About this album
Madurai R.Sundar had his early training under his aunt Ananthalakshmi Sadagopan and was later initiated into the finer aspects and nuances of the Carnatic music by Madurai T.N. Seshagopalan. He gave his first public performance at the age of 14 and from then on there was no looking back for this young man who has given many performances in India and abroad. He has won many awards and is the recipient of Vipanchi scholarship awarded by Shrimathi Padma Varadhan, a veena vidwan. With his mellifluous voice, mastery over ragas, ease with which he handles a krithi, he keeps his listeners enthralled.
1. 'Saraseeruhasanapriya' (Nattai - Adi) is a composition by Puliyur Doraiswami Iyer, on Saraswati, the Goddess of music and learning to bless the devotees.
2. 'Sri Sathyanarayanam' (Subhapanthuvarali - Rupakam) is a krithi by Dikshitar on Lord Sathyanarayana who is adored and worshipped for the Lord had taken ten avatars for the benefit of mankind and who resides in Badrinath and who is the epitome of Truth, Knowledge and Bliss.
3. 'Mariyemi Kaavalenu' (Kanada - Adi) is a composition by Ambujam Krishna on Sri Rama, the beloved spouse of Sita, who saves one and all from the perils of life and heeds to their cry and takes his devotees in His fold.
4. 'Paripalayamam' (Reethigowla - Rupakam) is a composition of Swathi Tirunal on Lord Padmanabha of Trivandrum describing the beauty, the mighty deeds and the greatness of the Lord.
5. 'Ratnakanjugadaarini' (Kambhoji - Misrachapu) is a composition of Harikesanallur Muthaiah Bhagavathar asking the Goddess for her blessing and to show her infinite compassion on her devotees.
6. 'Arabimaanam' (Ragamalika - Adi) is a beauiful ragamalika by Tarangambadi Panchanada Iyer on Goddess Shivakamasundari describing her beauty and grace and greatness. Each stanza carries the ragas name, enabling the listener to identify the raga easily.
7. 'Vachanamiha Vetri' (Behag - Chatusra Jampa) is an Arunagirinathar compostion. This Thirupugazh sings the praise of Lord Muruga and also his glorious deeds.
