Aruna Sairam is one of the beat voices to emerge in recent times in the Carnatic Music galaxy. She was born in Mumbai into a family deeply immersed in music. Her mother, Smt Rajalakshmi Sethuraman, was her first teacher in the art of Carnatic Music. Her father, a connoisseur of Carnatic music, established their house as a favorite meeting palce for the greatest musicians and dancers from both North and South India. Luminaries like Ustad Amir Khan, T. Balasarawathi, T.R. Mahalingam and M.S.Subbulakshmi , graced their house during such meetings. This rare atmosphere encouraged her artistic talents to bloom and she absorbed wonderful ideas through such luminaries in various forms of music. It was her privilege to learn music from Sangeetha Kalanidhi, Smt. T.Brinda of the great Veena Dhanammal School.

Aruna Sairam is a seasoned artist with an energetic voice that has excellent range and appeal. The unique timbre in the voice characterizes her presentations and adds strength to the tone. Aruna Sairam has performed in almost all the places of prominence in the country, Rashtrapathi Bhavan, Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, Raj Bhavan, Mumbai and Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi, are just a few of the places where she has enthralled the audience. She tours Europe frequently to participate in major festivals and handles recordings and workshops. She has given concerts for Radio France at Paris, broadcast live all over Europe, and has treated the audience to a feast with her performances. She is the recipient of several prestigious awards and has carved a niche for herself in the Carnatic Music World.
