About this album

Commencing her illustrious career from the age of ten in AIR, she still reigns supreme in the field of Carnatic Music. Deep vidwat and dedicated practice were the prime factors of her success.

Her Guru was her own father Damal Krishnaswamy Dikshitar. Later on from Papanasam Sivan. She was awarded the Sangeetha Kalanidhi in 1970. Another feather in her cap was Palghat Mani Iyer's acceptance to accompany her for her 'Laya Shudam'.

1. 'Eppadi Pardinaro' (Karnataka Devagandari) is a beautiful kriti describing the various ways people sing and the unique way the composer would like to sing.

2. 'Yaro Ivar Yaaro' (Bhairavi) is a very popular kriti where the Lord Sri Rama bursts into a rapturous song on seeing Sita and her beauty.

3. 'Sivakama Sundari' (Mukhari) is sung in praise of the Goddess Sivakama Sundari who is the bestower of wealth and happiness and the Savior of mankind.

4. 'Thookkiya Thiruvadi' (Sankarabharanam) is a beautiful kriti on Lord Siva, at whose lotus feet devotees take refuge.

5. 'Velan Varuvaradi' (Ragamalika) is a beautiful kriti by Desika Vinayakam Pillai on Lord Muruga who always blesses the devotees who takes refuge in Him and removes all their obstacles.

6. 'Sri Satyanarayanam' (Subha Pantuvarali) is sung in praise of Lord Satyanarayana of Badrinath who is the embodiment of Truth, Knowledge and Bliss.
