About this album
Chitravina Ganesh was trained from very young age by his maternal uncle, musical wizard and guru, Chitravina Narasimhan. Ganesh stormed into the world of Carnatic music even at the tender of age of two and a half, just like his cousins Chitravina Ravikiran, Shashikiran and Kiranavali. He was able to identify and render around 225 Ragas and 175 Talas and answer numerous other technical questions with ease. Ganesh then continued his musical training under Narasimhan and Ravikiran as a vocalist. He also had the rare privilege of learning from Sangeeta Kalanidhi Brinda T for a few years.
Even by the age of 8, Ganesh had developed an interest in the 21-stringed, fretless instrument, Chitravina. Combining his natural musicality with assiduous practice, Ganesh has now emerged as one of the most distinguished artistes in this instrument. His musical style is marked by an easy flow and effortless handling of multiple speeds, without eschewing on the artistic elements.
Ganesh has performed in major venues all over India and in many other parts of the World. An A-grade artiste of AIR and Doordarshan, he has been performing in tandem with Ravikiran as Asia Brothers, and also provided accompaniment for top-notch artistes like Mukta T and Balamuralikrishna M in several concerts and recordings. He toured USA and Canada as the lead instrumentalist in Ravikiran's music and dance production, Lakshmi Prabhavam and played many duet concerts along with Ravikiran. He is also one of the core members of Ravikiran's melodic ensemble. Vintage Virtuosos, and has been featured in 3 of their CD productions.
Ganesh often learns up with Shashikiran to present vocal duet concerts, as Carnatica Brothers. He is much sought after as a teacher, and is presently in the faculty of Carnatica's Gurukulam and Hamsadhwani's Music school.
Ganesh's talent, hard work and commitment have been recognized by quite a few organizations such as The Music Academy. Krishna Gana Sabha, Bharath Kalachar etc., who have bestowed upon him awards and prizes. He also performs on the Hawalian guitar, and has shown promise as a composer too, having created a few Varnams, kritis, tilanas and some instrumental pieces.
