Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar

About this album

Sangeetha Kalanidhi Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar, was one of the front ranking Carnatic musicians of this century, endowed with a rich, resonant, solid voice, bringing out the lyrics, sung with utter devotion to the Almighty. His favorite
Deity was Lord Guruvayoorappan at Whose altar he submitted all his musical endeavors. His music was bhakti laden and he offered it more for the grace of the Supreme than for public appreciation.

When he rendered different ragas in the slokam or Virutham compositions one could feel the bhakti element predominant in it. However, he had an astonishing skill of renering swara clusters in higher speed than the second speed and bring them out with clarity, revealing the unique ease of his voice which could manipulate so many such intricacies.
