Punjabi is one of the official languages in the Indian subcontinent and widely spoken in the state of Punjab. Punjabi music constitutes lively form and expression and this can be traced from Bhangra, which is Punjabi popular folk tradition. This genre of music originated from the harvest festival celebrations, but its popularity took it across to weddings, New Year celebrations etc. reflecting the essence of joy and feel through its lyrics. Other different forms of music popular in Punjab other than Bangra are Punjabi Pop, Folklore, Sufi Music and Punjabi Gharana.
