Maharajapuram Ramachandran is the grand son of the great 'Sangeetha Vishwanatha Iyer', who was a legend in his own times and the son of 'Sangeetha Kalanidhi' Maharajapuram Santhanam, who has enthralled audiences from all over India and abroad with his mellifluous voice and soulful renderings.

Ramachandran comes seventh in the direct 'Shishya parampara' of Saint Thyagaraja. He has been fortunate to be trained by both his father and grandfather.

An 'A' grade artiste on All India Radio, he has won many titles and awards and each one of them exemplify his sincere and creative approach to music. Even the finest of his critics his impeccable adherence to 'Shruti' and intense feelings for the
lyrics of the compositions he is rendering.

His open throated singing keeps his music free from artificial modulations. His music has certain grandeur and his meticulous approach lends that certain majestic appeal to every piece he renders in a concert. He has imbibed the salient qualities of
his 'Gharana' and is truly a torchbearer to the wonderful tradition he has inherited through his great lineage.
